Have you ever wondered what kind of surfaces make race cars go faster or slower? Grab your remote control to find out as your car zips over different surfaces. The key to this experiment is car friction, or resistance created, between the car's wheels and the road. Friction is the force that resists movement between two objects.
To me, kindergarten is all about kids being introduced to as many things and ideas as possible. I find that science experiments for kids, especially when they are hands-on, help them gain an understanding of the world around them. This experiment required a little bit of prep, but it was easy and fairly quick.
Check out this easy friction science experiment that packs a big punch! Kids love this friction activity! #science #preschool Science for Kids: Exploring Ramps and Friction A great scince experiment for preschool and kindergarten kids at home or in the classroom!- Pre-K Pages.
27 Mar 2017 Part I: Review Force and introduce Friction. Force is a push or a pull. Demonstrate and ask students to imitate pushing their hands together.
Friction worksheet for kids. Catered to second graders this science worksheet challenges students to apply the idea of friction and how it resists motion. Test which surfaces create more friction, see how strong friction is, learn how to reduce friction, and even discover the side effects of friction. There are sliding friction experiments, a phone book friction experiment, a way to make rice stick together, an experiment to create frictional heat, and lots more friction experiments for all ages.

Kids love this friction activity! You know we’re a bit science obsessed as seen with our Friction experiment and Balloon Rocket. The activity is ideally suited for kindergarten and up but can be adjusted to work with a slightly younger child and certainly an older child. My 3.5-year-old is definitely intrigued but my 5-year-old “got it”.
